Trezor Warn Against Fake Hardware Wallet Stealing Cryptos Stored in it

Popular hardware wallet manufacturer — Trezor has warned its customers to be wary of a fake wallet used by crypto wallet hijackers to steal from unsuspecting users. Trevor made it known that there have been numerous sightings of fake Trezor hardware wallets, designed to steal whatever crypto is being stored in them.

Fake Trezor One

According to the recently released report from the hardware wallet maker, its flagship product, the Trezor-One, is being duplicated by fraudulent companies. The company further made it clear that the goal of these fake wallet makers is not just to create a watered down version of the hardware wallet, but also to steal whatever crypto is being stored in them.

Initially, the company made it known that there have been sightings of Trezor-One clones, created by legitimate companies and marketed under a separate name. In the previous report, the company made it clear that it is not so bordered about this, as a “fake” will always be fake and no matter how well they copied the original product, the truth is that they can never meet up. However, with the influx of Fake Trezor-wallet, bearing similar appearance with the original wallet and using the same brand name (Trezor), the wallet maker fears that its image will get tarnished.

Interestingly, according to the post from the company, detailing its finding in relations to the game wallet, “the fake hardware wallet replicates the real wallet to the core, which makes it hard to distinguish from the original”.

The post also made it known that:

“You would not entrust your money to somebody who has already cheated you by selling you a different product than you thought you were buying. We, therefore, recommend not to use this device and report it to us, which would help us fight these scams and provide you with a legitimate device.”

The Price is the Difference

However, the company made it clear that right now the only way to distinguish between a fake TrezorOne device and an original is through the pricing. This is because the cloned version is naturally always cheaper and or comes at a ridiculously low discount.
